Main Water Shutoff
Basement — where the line enters the house, near the water heater
This is the primary shutoff for the entire house — closing this stops water everywhere. This is the one to remember in an emergency.

Curb box, front yard near the sidewalk
City-owned shutoff — controls water to the whole property before it even reaches the house. Only use in a true emergency or when the indoor main is inaccessible.

Upstairs Zone Valve
Basement, near the main shutoff
Shuts off water to the entire upstairs (bathroom, shower/tub) without affecting the rest of the house.

Hose bib, front of house
Valve is inside the basement, near the rim joist on the front side, above where the spigot pipe passes through the wall. Close before the first hard freeze each year.
